Terms and Conditions
These terms govern your use of PDFJIFF.com and the tools available on it (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What the Service is
PDFJIFF provides a set of browser-based tools for working with PDF files — merging, splitting, compressing, converting, editing text, organising pages, adding watermarks and page numbers, applying or removing passwords, flattening, repairing, comparing and inspecting metadata, among others.
The tools execute on your own device inside your browser. We do not receive, store or process your files on our servers. This is central to how the Service works and it shapes several of the terms below.
2. No account, and what that means for you
There is no registration and no user account. You do not create anything with us that can be logged into, recovered or restored.
Because we never hold your files:
- We cannot recover a document you lost, overwrote, or closed before downloading.
- We cannot undo an operation after you have left the page.
- We cannot retrieve a password you have forgotten, and we have no back door into a protected file.
Keep your own copy of anything important before you run it through a tool.
3. Your files are your responsibility
You keep all rights in the documents you process. We claim no licence over them, and no such licence would be meaningful in any case, since the files never reach us.
By using the Service you confirm that, for every file you process, you either own it or have the necessary permission from the rights holder, and that processing it does not breach any law, contract or duty of confidentiality that applies to you.
Password and restriction tools in particular. The "Remove PDF password", "Unlock PDF" and "Flatten PDF" tools exist for legitimate work: your own archives, documents your organisation has issued, files a colleague protected before leaving, forms you have been asked to make accessible. Removing a password requires you to already know it — the tool does not break, guess or bypass encryption. You must not use these tools to circumvent protections on material you have no right to access or modify, or to strip restrictions from third-party content in breach of copyright or licence terms. Doing so is a breach of these terms and may be unlawful where you are.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to process material that is unlawful, or that infringes anyone's copyright, trade secrets, privacy or other rights;
- use it to produce forged, altered or misleading documents intended to deceive — for example altering an invoice, certificate, identity document or contract to misrepresent it as genuine;
- attempt to interfere with, overload, probe or disrupt the site or the infrastructure serving it;
- scrape, mirror, resell or repackage the Service or substantial parts of it as your own product;
- automate access at a scale that degrades the site for other people;
- attempt to interfere with, block, obscure or artificially inflate the advertising on the site;
- reverse engineer the Service in order to work around any restriction, other than to the extent that such restriction cannot lawfully be prevented.
5. Availability and changes
The Service is provided as-is and on an as-available basis. Tools may be added, altered, renamed or withdrawn, and the site may be unavailable during maintenance or because of problems outside our control. Some tools may be offered in preview or beta form and can behave unpredictably; results should be checked before you rely on them.
Different browsers implement the underlying capabilities differently. Very large or unusually structured PDFs may exceed what your device's memory can handle, and results may vary between devices. Repair, compression, text editing and conversion in particular are best-effort operations on files that are sometimes already damaged or unusual.
6. Check the output
You are responsible for verifying that the result of any operation is correct before you use, send, sign, file or rely on it. This matters most where a document has legal or financial consequences. The Service does not provide legal, financial, medical or professional advice of any kind.
7. Intellectual property
The site itself — its name, logo, design, text, interface and underlying code — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. You may use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, adapt or redistribute the site's code, design or content except as permitted by law.
The Service incorporates third-party and open-source components, which remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their respective licences.
8. Advertising and third-party links
The Service is free and funded by advertising. Ads and sponsored content are supplied by third parties. We do not endorse the advertisers, products or sites that appear, and we are not responsible for their content, offers or practices. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are strictly between you and them.
Links to external sites are provided for convenience only and are outside our control.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any output will be free of defects or suitable for a particular use.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary loss, nor for loss of data, loss of profits, loss of business or reputational harm, arising out of or connected with your use of the Service — including damage to or loss of a document, an incorrect result, an interruption, or your reliance on any output.
Since the Service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims connected with the Service is limited to INR 1,000 (or the equivalent in your local currency).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages, losses and reasonable costs arising from your misuse of the Service, your breach of these terms, or your processing of material you had no right to process.
12. Suspension of access
We may restrict or block access to the Service where use appears abusive, automated at a disruptive scale, or in breach of these terms, without prior notice.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service develops or the law changes. The "last updated" date reflects the current version. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised terms.
14. Governing law
