This page describes the cookies and similar technologies used on PDFJIFF.com, why they are there, and how to control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else.
Two different kinds of storage
It helps to separate two things that often get lumped together.
Cookies are small files a site or a third party asks your browser to store and send back with future requests. They can be read by the party that set them, which is what makes them useful for advertising and analytics.
Local storage is a space in your browser where a site can keep data on your device. It is not sent back to a server with each request. PDFJIFF uses local storage for genuinely local things — the language you picked, your theme, and the settings you last used in a tool — so returning to a tool does not mean setting everything up again. That data stays on your device.
Neither mechanism has any access to the PDFs you process. Your files are read into memory by the tool, worked on, and handed back to you as a download.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to PDFJIFF and/or other sites on the internet.
Managing your choices
On this site. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a consent prompt appears before non-essential cookies are set, and you can accept, reject or select categories individually. You can revisit those choices at any time through the cookie settings link in the site footer. Changes apply from the moment you save them.
Opting out of personalised ads. You can turn off ad personalisation across Google's products at google.com/settings/ads. Industry-wide opt-out tools are available at aboutads.info/choices (US), youronlinechoices.eu (Europe) and optout.networkadvertising.org. These reduce personalisation; they do not remove ads.
In your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, either globally or per site — usually under Settings → Privacy. You can also clear all data stored by PDFJIFF.com, including local storage, which will reset your language and tool preferences. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge each document this in their own help pages.
Blocking everything. The tools themselves will still run if you block all non-essential cookies, because the processing happens locally and does not depend on them. You may be asked for your consent choices again on each visit, and you will need to reselect your language.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
There is still no common industry standard for how sites should respond to a browser's Do Not Track header, so we do not act on it. We do honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where applicable law requires it, and treat them as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Third-party policies
The vendors named above set their own cookies under their own terms. Their policies govern what they collect and how long they keep it, and we have no control over cookies set by a third party.
Changes
Cookies change as providers and regulations change. When they do, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects what you consented to, we will ask again.
